In our last Q & A session, Chris asked for some FIFA shooting tips while inside the penalty box. Today’s question comes from Lucas:
Hey Tarik
I have a question about how I make my headers more accurate making more goals with them. Most of the times when my player make the header the ball goes too strong and goes up the goal or goes to the side… Is there any tip to make more goals with headers?
My response:
Hi Lucas. Good question. I score the majority of my header goals from crosses, so I will share with you Tip #28 straight from our 77 FIFA Tips eBook.
Tip# 28 – How to Score Header Goals from Crosses
The diving header goal requires 3 key components:
- an accurate cross into the box
- dangerous run from the forward into the area
- an accurate header on goal and away from the goalkeeper
First, use your midfielder (left or right) to attack down your opponent’s sideline. Use radar and pay attention to where your forward is running because this will decide how much power you use on the cross. Next, fill up the power bar 1/3 for a near post run, ½ for a middle of the 16 yard box run, and ¾ for a far post run.
Make sure the ball curves away from the goalkeeper, or he will either catch or punch the ball out of the box. As the ball curves in, use the jostle button to fend off your opponent. This will give you the best position to head the ball on goal.
Finally, hold down with the control pad and fill up the power bar no more than ½ way when heading the ball on goal. Remember, accuracy is more important than power here. An accurate header will guarantee a goal or a rebound while a powerful header may sail right over the cross bar.
I hope this answers your question, Lucas.
