Basically, it’s an extension of Be a Pro that allows you to fully customize your player, compete in various online matches and tournaments, and experience a more realistic football/soccer gaming experience.

Over at the EA Sports Off the Bench FIFA blog, Mike Takla shares some key insights into the newest game mode.
EA’s GamesCom adventure got underway in Cologne this week with a spectacular presentation of some of FIFA 10’s new features. Check out EA SPORTS Football World now for a video. And the highlight of those revelations was Virtual Pro.
FIFA 10 Producer Mike TaklaHello everyone, I’m Mike Takla – one of the FIFA 10 360/PS3 Producers – here to tell you about Virtual Pro, one of the new features for this year, as well as give you a quick introduction to our new Clubs feature, the EA SPORTS Pro Club Championship.
As it’s quite a deep feature I’ve broken the blog down into a few sections; firstly there’ll be a quick intro, then I’ll talk about Game Face, growing your Pro, taking him online and finally a little bit about my Pro’s career so far. I’ll also do my best to answer any questions you have so feel free to log in to the site and start adding these as comments.
Virtual Pro Intro
At the start of FIFA 10 pre-production (the producers’ favourite time of the year – when we brainstorm ideas for the upcoming game) we found a lot of the dev team, along with our community, commented on how they enjoyed being able to create a player to use in Be-A-Pro Seasons, Manager Mode and the other game modes, but found it a little frustrating that for many of the modes they’d have to create a new player and that none of their previous achievements counted for anything. Other feedback included people wanting to use their created player online in team play, as well as suggestions that our create-player feature didn’t allow you to achieve the same level of likeness you’re able to in other games. So the producers gathered together and created Virtual Pro; a feature that would allow you to do all of the above and much more…
Customising my Virtual Pro
One of the first bits of feedback we started working on was trying to improve the level of physical likeness you are able to achieve when creating a player. I’m sure you’ve all seen Game Face in other EA SPORTS games and although it might seem like we just need to take what they’re doing, it’s far more complicated than that, with each game using different character models and other technology that as a producer (we’re the ideas men!) I’m probably not the best to talk about. But anyway, we knew that getting Game Face into FIFA 10 would be a big win for Virtual Pro so immediately started discussing with our friends who run the Football World website how this could be achieved. Thanks to a lot of meetings with a lot of clever engineers we finally worked out how to get a head created on the web into the game and ‘Download Game Face’ was born.
The way this works for FIFA 10 is you can upload two photos to the web and using the Game Face tool, create your head and get it ready to download. Once you’ve created a Virtual Pro in the game you can download the head and it’s automatically applied to your player in the game. You can make changes to your face on the web at any time and get your new face into the game. Your Game Face will also be used as your Avatar when connected, and this can be viewed when playing online but maybe the best Game Face feature of all is that you can also download the faces of your friends if you’re playing in an online Club – seeing your friends smiling face after scoring a goal still gets me every time!
Growing your Virtual Pro
FIFA 10 Virtual Pro – TraitsAs I mentioned earlier, one of our goals for the feature was to allow you to play with and continue to grow your Pro throughout FIFA 10 – so you’ll be able to take him through the four Be-A-Pro Seasons, have him follow you around in your Manager Mode career or use him in Kick-Off, Tournament and Lounge Mode. You’ll also be able to use and grow him online, in a couple of specific modes which I’ll come to shortly, and unless you decide to select another player he’ll also be your man in the Arena.
In all the modes you can unlock EA SPORTS Football World Accomplishments to improve your player’s skills. There are over 200 Accomplishments to complete on the pitch with the rewards related to the challenge. For example, you can improve your finishing & score different types of goals, passing to create assists in various ways, and boost your tackling, and win the ball regularly. Of course, with each player having 28 attributes it’s far more complicated than that and there is a wide variety of different challenges – learning skill moves, making a goal line clearance, or reacting first to a rebound off the post are just a few more examples of the type of things you’ll need to do to take your Pro to his best.
As well as improving Attributes you can also unlock player traits, new celebrations and kit. Some of the traits that you can unlock include the new ‘Giant Throw’ f Stoke City’s Rory Delap, the new ‘Skilled Dribbling’ controls, as well as some old favourites such as ‘Outside of the Foot’, ‘Power Header’ and ‘Flair’. Whether you’re after a trait, a hand-stand celebration or some shiny gold boots there’s lots to unlock to make your Pro unique.
We know some people don’t have the same amount of time as others when it comes to improving created players, so we’ve tried our best to ensure that the difference between newly created players and those that have spent more time playing with their Pro is not too extreme, not just to give newcomers a chance but also because we believe at the end of the day when it comes to online play user skill level should always be the main reason for success. We’ve also tried to balance the effect of the Physical attributes so when you’re creating your Pro you’ll notice these change based on his Physical stature – so for example if you’re 6′7″ you won’t be the fastest guy around (sorry Usain Bolt!), and likewise a smaller player will be less likely to win a physical challenge. You can change the course of your career at any time and alter your Pro’s preferred playing position and their build, so it’s not the end of the world if you realise you’re not the best striker out there and maybe fancy a go as a full back.
Well that’s plenty about growing your Pro, but I did also want to mention the one last thing that will influence your player’s ability; recent form. All your Pro’s matches are tracked and the your most recent games will be used to award you a small form bonus, so it’s not just about building up your Pro – being consistent also counts.
Unlocking Accomplishments in the Arena
Online Clubs was a big success in FIFA 09, but also highlighted a lot of things we wanted to improve this year. One of the things we really wanted to do was give Clubs more ‘goals’ so that those that joined in at a later date, and those that do not play the game as frequently as others, still felt there was something to achieve as a team. To do this we created a new League system. On top of the Leaderboard we had last year, which tracks every Club’s record over time and places them in Divisions, we’ve added ‘Regional Leagues’ and ‘Seasons’. There are 11 Regional Leagues to join, with each having its own Leaderboard and each month is defined as a Season. So at the start of each month the Leaderboard is reset, and the new season and the battle for the title begins again, while at the end of a season the top clubs in each League are awarded trophies. Regional Leagues and Seasons means that whether you’re a newly created Club, or playing your 10th Season, there is always a goal for your Club over the next month. Of course, to prove yourself as the best Club around, getting to No 1 in Division 1 in what is now called the World Standings, is still the ultimate goal.
Another of the big things we wanted to do this year was to make creating and joining a Club easier. When it comes to joining a Club you’ll now get a list of the Clubs your friends are in and can search for ‘Public Clubs’ – Clubs who are open to new players immediately joining without needing the Manager’s approval. As well as making it easier to find a Club, we wanted to improve Club Managers’ ability to find players. This year, managers can view players’ previous match ratings, recruit free agents (people who are not a member of a Club) via the Pro Leaderboard as well as play Pro Ranked Matches. Pro Ranked Matches are quick ranked Online Team Play games where 20 Pros are put together for a ‘friendly’, although with all your stats tracked and Accomplishments up for grabs friendly is maybe not the right word. Managers can use the Pro Ranked Matches to recruit new players, while others can take the opportunity to build up their stats in the hope a top Club will come calling.
FIFA 10 Virtual Pro – StatsI can’t talk about all the changes to Clubs, as I’d be writing for too long, but I did also wanted to mention how we’ve gone to town when it comes to Club and Player stats. This year the top players in each Club will be called out on the Club home screen – the top Goalscorer, the player with the most assists and the highest rated defender, midfielder and forward. All your teams’ match stats can be viewed in the Squad Stats screen, which along with the expected games, goals and assists stats, also has info such as Pass, Shot and Tackle success for each player. Lastly, along with being able to view your own team’s stats, you can also view the Pro Leaderboard and compare yourself against the top Pros.
Entering the Pro Club Championship
One of the Producers responsible for the feature of course I play with my Virtual Pro a lot, and for me it adds another dimension to my offline game modes as well as making me take my online play a lot more seriously – now I’m playing with Mike Takla I have a reputation to keep up! As a United fan (yes I’m a glory hunter…) I normally assign myself to their squad, taking my hero Eric Cantona’s number 7 shirt (sorry Michael Owen but you haven’t earned it just yet). I also go and make myself Captain using the Edit Teams feature, and normally assign myself to corners, free kicks and penalties, which is a bit greedy but seeing as that spot is open now Ronaldo’s gone I thought I’d try to impress Fergie. Time to unlock some Accomplishments and get my Pro ready for the weekly Clubs match we have here in the studio…
I start off unlocking some Accomplishments in the Arena, juggling the ball, a Free-Kick, a Penalty and scoring with both feet is a good way to get started. Juggling the ball unlocks some new Skill Moves so I practice those to get myself some more tricks – as I play the game a fair bit I can normally get myself to 5 Star Skill Moves pretty quick nowadays, but there’s a check list and instructions if you’re not sure what you’ve done or if you don’t know the controls for the new moves you’ve unlocked.
Next up, some Be-A-Pro Seasons. Let’s see if I can get myself in the United 1st team and maybe earn some England caps. I unlock a few Accomplishments and increase my rep in the mode but decided to play some of the new Manager Mode, as it’s just too tempting. I start in the Championship with my second favourite team, Coventry City, as there’s an Accomplishment for helping get a team promoted. My Pro’s not bad for the Championship as I’ve still got the attribute improvements I unlocked in the Arena and in Be-A-Pro. After a long hard season, and a lot of unlocked Accomplishments (still haven’t scored a bicycle kick!), I’ve got a Pro who’s going to surprise a few of the guys in the office in the weekly Clubs match, and I’m sure they’re going to be jealous of my yellow boots!
The day of the big Clubs Match arrives, it’s the Game Modes guys versus the Gameplay team. They normally beat us pretty bad, but I’ve got my improved Pro this time, they are in for a surprise! My boots get a few comments, some not as nice as others, and having Skilled Dribbling gives me an edge, but they’ve got a pretty good defence, despite playing with brand new Pro’s. Finally we win a throw in and I can launch a giant throw! I launch one into the box but there isn’t an attacker in sight, what a waste of my talent! We end up losing, and my Pro’s superior skills didn’t quite make the difference I’d hoped, but only because of the opposition (the Gameplay guys are good!). A bit more training and I’m sure I’ll get my 10th league goal of the season, it’s been a three-game drought! Oh well, maybe next time – it’s too early to give up on getting to the top of the Pro Leaderboard just yet!

do you know how to select a captain or how the captain is chosen in manager mode and normal non be a pro games in fifa 10?
in team management got to player roles, and scroll to bottom where it has the captain
i made my pro, but when i play games and then look at my skills and acomplishments, it says i have played no games :s

With your pro, I don't know what team you play. In game settings, set your difficuly to pro, semi-pro as long the difficulty is set to medium to very hard. Then when you play a game with your pro I started my pro as a forward. When you have played a few games or more you will have acomplishments and skills to look up at in the menu.

You need to play ur be a pro in semi pro mode to unlock acomplishments and get matches counted, id advise u to play as ur team and not just as ur pro as semi pro is very tricky and its easier when u have control over ur other players as u can set things up.
You have to make sure the difficulty is set to at least semi-pro to track accomplishments
u got to do it on atleast semi pro…

How do I play as my Virtual Pro in any online mode? If I play in Pro Club Championship on my team all my friends have their Pro's but I default to a roster player. How can I use my created Virtual Pro in online play? Do I have to assign him to a roster or import him or something?

john, you can not level in virtual pro when on amateur… Cab, under manager mode, go on the same screen you edit formation… (formation, starters.. all that) where you edit corner kick takers and stuff the last opition is the edit your captain

how do i change my BaP kit number ? during the first season i played 10 or so games with my VP. i was english and number 8 for my club, then i decided to change nationality to spanish and kit number to 10 because that was available that all worked fine. now in the second season i have transfered to a team where number 10 is not available and the other player is in the starting line up with me
and i cant change my number ? i tried to do the same as i did the first time but it doesnt work

YoYoYo, how do I make my pro take the free kicks in the arena? My pro is the default guy, but when I go to take free kicks it switches, so I haven't been able to do the arena free kick accomplishments.

I am quite good at fifa for a girl I always play at Professional level I have won the world cup on fifa africa with England Spain Holland and S Africa I have won the premier in Fifa 10 with Arsenal Liverpool and Fulham and won the championship with Ipswich.
I am now attempting to play a virtual pro game with a character I created called Billy Foster he is a CAM playing for Ipswich, I am However having problems with the camera view if I play on be a pro view it is hard to see what is going on as the the other team mates are so far away that you cant see whats going on if I set camera to Tele view and zoom etc to how I play in tournament mode its hard to follow my player as he is often off the screen as the camera follows the ball. According to the booklet it says you can opt to play pro season controlling the entire team but I cant find any game settings to change it can anyone advise me please.
rebecca u can change the view by pressing the select button u will then change to following your pro or to comntrol the whole team on the bap menu press the right anolog stick this will unlock the whole team

I purchased Fifa 11 this weekend and after plying it for several hours I have to express my disapointment. Manager mode really sucks now there is no way to improve the ground or staff which when manageing teams like Ipswich who are unable to afford or attract top class players is a very important starting block in building a better team. There seems to be no way of checking how many games you have played during the season or even to check the full table stats all you can see is a puny effort of a table on the right hand side that gives you the name of the teams and how many points they have and toggles between top of table bottom of table and top scorers.
On the field the team runs around like headless chickens they if you actually manage to get a tackle in without the ref blowing for a foul whilst trying desperatly to get the player to run in the right direction or indeed actally move at all one of you own players will barge in tackle you the ball will fly of you like pinball and its just constantly desperatly trying to get the ball long enough to string a few passes together with not much hope of sprinting past anyone let alone pulling of a few skill moves Im not sure about the top teams but the Ipswich AI is non existant the players seem to have no tactical sense whatsoever its impossible to do little one touch passes in and around the box as they did in F10 as the players dont seem to be make or move into space runing with winger Edwards down the wing and oh look theres Jason Scotland runing in front of me down the wing with me screaming at the TV get in the box you idiot but alas no he has no sense of direction or any idea where on the box is. In F10 I made a Vpro who was very like fabrigas in that he would make forward runs overlapping the strikers and causing havoc in the box but not this one no he just stands about like his personal life of cheating on his Mrs is badly affecting his game.
In Fifa 10 I played Ipswich with their defualt team plus my VPro Billy Foster wh was overall of 74 so only barely the best player in the squad in manager mode at proffesional level for 2 seasons I won the championship the first season and the premiership the second season and never bought or sold a single player. In fifa 11 at Pro level I can dominate a game by passing about in midfield back and forth and square passing but very rarely do attempted attacks on goal result in shots if you do get in a shooting position 9 times out of 10 the player controls are so slow to react before you can pull off the shot a defender rushes in and tackles from behind leaving your player sprawling and no free kick. Even I have some idea about space making and positioning and Im a girl.
Well I shoulda known really as Fifa 9 was pretty much unplayable after fifa 8 was so good Fifa 10 turned out to be amazinf and Fifa africa the best so far I thought Fifa 11 would play like Fifa Africa and to cut a very long gripe short I a have wasted £35 on a very poor and disapointing presentation looks like I will be back to fifa 10 pity I deleted all my Fifa 10 profiles and game saves

Like on 1 on 1s , it's easy to score previously but now it's quite hard as there is little time to react before the defenders chase back after you and goalkeepers do parry well.
I'll say keep practicisng, the learning curve is different and i think if you keep at it, you'll find out how deep it is. What's your psn id though, it'll be fun to play with you i guess, add me up manuavin.

Hey I just started playing Fifa 11 and I made my VP player and when I try and do deeks and tricks with the ball my guys doesnt know any. How come I am unable to perform tricks?

Does anyone know how on pro clubs you choose who takes the free kicks, corners, penalties etc??
I'm currently playing as a manager-player in the career mode. I finished my season and got offers to change the team i manage, however when i leave i can't bring my virtual pro with me. I also tried going to another team and buying him but it didn't work. Does anyone know a way to switch teams and have your virtual pro as well or am i stuck on the same team if i want to continue using my virtual pro?

I have played fifa11 quite a bit more I made my VP Billy Foster and trained him up to 5 star skills in the arena I then set up a manager mode and included him in the team I opted not to control Ipswich because I get so annoyed if I lose with them so decided to play as Accrington Stanley I seem to get a lot of O-Os as you say it is really hard to score it is fact really hard to make chances which I pretty much control the play without making attempts on goal only to be beaten 1-0 with the other team having only 1 effort all game most annoying
I would rather draw 4-4 than 0-0 or even lose 4-3 than 1-0 I like goals and attempts on goals maybe I should make my matches longer another small annoying thing with fifa11 is every cup Accrington played in FA cup, League Cup and Paint Trophy the 1st round draw was against Tranmere Rovers.
Unfortunatly I cant play online as I have no landline and only have a dongal for my laptop which dosent work very often hence the reason for being so long to answer your messege (sorry about that) the dongal wont work in the PS3 I tried it 8=( as soon as my contract on my mobile and dongal runs out which is not until june or july I will get a landline I cant really afford both though. I will keep playing before I decide to go back to fifa 10. I really wish fifa had used the same game play and moves as fifa africa though as that is the best footie game I have ever played and I started playing footie games on the Sinclaire spectrum with Matchday unfortunatly it does become somewhat boring playing the world cup over and over again with Andy Townsend talking almost as much rubbish as he does in real life "For me Andy he didnt need to be there" After saying that, hearing Andy Gray chuckling over never having said that before every match gets a little grating also LOL.
I actually went out a bought PES11 I have to say BIG MISTAKE if any of you are thinking of doing so please don't waste your money.

How to unlock adidas/nike original boots apart from EA boots for your virtual pro?
i have finished all accessories accomplishments too..
You have to play games online to unlock a lot of the boots, and you have to finish those games to get credit for them.
I must have played 10 games online before it finally unlocked because the “host” would get pissy and check out after the game was over, but before we got back to the summary screen, and it would not count the game because it said the connection was lost or connection was disconnected.
1 online game unlocked all the black boots (Nike, Adidas, etc)
25 online games unlocked Red boots.
I think the only boots you can unlock if you don’t play online are certain white ones.
Just completed a season yet when i resign with the same club my Virtual Pro is not with my team – When i search it he is not even on the squads list – is there anyway i can get him back into my squad?
I accidentally changed the formation for the national team when I was captain to 3-4-3, but my players preferred position is left wing defender, and is therefore not in the lineup. This means that I never make it to the starting 11 in national games, not even with a 10.0 form rating! Is there any way I can sort this problem out? Since I’m now only a reserve I can’t change the formation any more… Stupid of me, I know. But thankful for help.

Hey, i have a problem with my VP i have played 3 seasons with club brugge know i don’t wanna stay and go to another club but my VP isn’t at the team of the other club how he get there?
At the end of the season different clubs will offer to sign your player. You’re options are limited to those teams.
HOWEVER, you can start a new game and put your player on any team you want, the cool thing is that your player keeps all his accomplishments, so if you stop your first game and you’re ranked as an 80, when you start the new BaP, you’re player will start out as an 80 instead of the normal 65.
i have play with the virtual for the firs time with amateur difficulty i know it will no accomplishments open. but some how there a points that i have every match i played to add my pro stats by pressing the square button in to the stats menu and simply use the points to increase all off the pro stats to overall 99
. but i tried to change the level to semi pro, yes the accomplishments opened but i can’t find way back. so i need help there…
HI, I play fifa 10 “be a pro” on psp and I want to find out how long u can play for ur team and what is th max lvl u can acheive can any1 plzzz help me
I only have it for xbox, but I think you can max out at 99 if you unlock EVERYTHING, but not a 99 overall, more like a 99 at a certain position, while you’d only be an 80 at another.
However, like I said…I don’t have it for PSP, it could be different.

It takes awhile depending on nationality. My player is American so needless to say, it didn’t take long. But I played as an English player and it took about 2 seasons to get him as a “sometimes” player.
how can 2 virtual pro’s play on the same team in a tournament? in fifawc you can have multiple vp on the same team and if 1 was injured or suspended the others could keep playing. is that not possible on fifa2011?
I see one of the accomplishments is “win __ man of the match awards as a pro”. How do you know if you’ve won man of the match while in BaP?
I must have played 100 games and seem to finish first in all of them based on pro performance, but it says I have only won 14 MoM awards.
I’ve only played MAYBE 5 matches in manager mode, is it giving me MoM awards when I sim the game, or am I getting these in BaP and just don’t know it.

i play bap on semi pro and usually get the motm award if i score a hat trick, not always but when ur completely dominating you do get it mentioned in the commentary.
Thank you, now that you mentioned it they do say something about “being in the running” for MoM. Unfortunately I’m stuck on 14 (I need 15) because I’m on Reading and they have me at RW where as I’m usually a LS or RS, I basically have to relearn how to play because of it. Now all I need to do is get my shitty players on my shitty team to head in a goal when I cross, I guess that’s what I get for playing on professional tho, opposition is good, my team sucks.

i just bought fifa 11 a few days ago and made my virtual pro and he is now playing for liverpool, today though my sister made her virtual pro on her seperate account (on the same xbox) and her pro plays for man city the thing is we wanted to play eachother with our VPs playing with their teams (liverpool vs man city) but we are only able to have one pro playing for their team, both of the profiles are activated but only the lead profiles pro is playing on their team… i was just wondering is it possible to have them both playing at the same time on their respective teams as it would be really handy for accomplishments aswell! Thx! and sorry if its a really obious answer, the last fifa i had was fifa 09! :O

You have to go into where you saved the download and erase it off the hard drive.
I do the celebration it tells me to do with my pro, and when I do it I look on stats and statistics and it says I didn’t do it.
Whenever I do a celebration From stats and statistics it doesn’t show I did
Sounds like a glitch to be honest, either that or your difficulty level isn’t high enough.
hi on fifa 11 my vp is suppose to be 86 during games but it goes down to 80 is it a glitch or bug tb nd ill give tips to get vp to 97 in 30 mins
It has to do with the position your player is in. If your VP is set as a Striker, and for some reason, in game your at midfield, the players rating goes down based on what the game would expect the stats of a midfielder to be (better tackling, better passer, etc).
It’s something with FIFA 11 too that your player rating goes down when you’re making roster adjustments, my player is a 77 as a forward, but if I move him to RM or CAM while adjusting my squad in the career menu, initially after I make the switch, it shows my player as a 60-something. If you make another roster move (switch your CB around), it will show your player with the “correct” rating.

In FIFA 11 I can’t get the physical attribute number 19 ( score 2 volleys in your carear) even though in the shooting part it says I have scored 8 volleys so far. What’s up with that? How do you get it?
In FIFA 10 I used my VP through an entire BaP career mode using various teams and Spain as my nationality. That career ended, and I began a new BaP career using the same VP, but edited his nationality to Germany instead. In my first year of the second BaP, the game continued to show Spain’s fixtures and list Germany as my international team, though I could never play in neither Spain nor Germany’s games, meanwhile I am listed as a key player on the national team. Fast forward to the second year in which now I’m shown the German teams fixtures to play, made Captain of the national team, but when I go to play the friendlies, I’m no where on the squad roster and when I try to play the game, I can control all players with my VP missing. What the heck happened and is there anything I can do to get it back?…..HELP!!!

Ive been playing head to head matches online on FIFA 10 and I can’t find my virtual pro. In my BaP season he is signed to Sevilla FC and captains the Australian team, but when I choose ether of those teams to play online he isn’t on the roster. Any ideas? I’m trying to unlock boots etc but it’s a bit hard when my player isn’t there.
