Top 10 FIFA 10 Goal Scoring Tips

October 1, 2009

One of the most common FIFA mistakes is failing to learn how to score goals. I want to share with you my top 10 tips for scoring goals in FIFA. If you have any tips or tricks, feel free to add them to the list!

#1 – The Closer, The Better

The closer you are to goal, the better chance you have of scoring. I know long range FIFA goals look awesome, but we’re about scoring as quickly and easily as possible. Take Close Range FIFA shots and watch your goal total soar!

#2 – 2 Strikers is Better than One

Always play with two strikers up top and abuse your opponent with the 1-2 pass (aka wall pass). I’ve made a living scoring goals like this. It’s simple and it works.

#3 – Slow Down

Don’t be in such a hurry all the time. Slow down your player when shooting. Use pace control if you need to. The less movement you are making, the more accurate your shoot will be.

#4 – Use the Lobbed Through Ball

Ground through balls work great, but lobbed through balls work better. It’s nearly impossible to block a lobbed pass, plus it beats most offside traps with ease. You get lots of breakaways.

#5 – Tap Shoot, Don’t Press

I’ve scored far more goals with slower, more accurate shots than fast laser shots. Get into the habit of tapping the shoot button instead of pressing it down. FIFA has a VERY sensitive shot control system, and most times pressing shoot will give your opponent a goal kick.

#6 – Play With Fast Strikers

That means play with teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, etc. These teams feature the world’s best strikers who all have superior speed, shot accuracy, and shot power. Follow the trend and score some easy goals with the best of the best.

#7 – Watch The Opponent’s Goalkeeper

You can pick up some EASY goals by cherrypicking your opponent when the goalkeeper passes and/or throws the ball back into play after a save. Just stand in front of your opponent’s defender, steal the ball, and tap shoot. The goalkeeper is usually out of position, and it’s an easy score. I’ve scored at least 50 goals doing this. Piece of Cake.

#8 – Cross Often and Use Your Head

When your opponent plays better than average defense, cross early and often. I wrote an in depth article on scoring header goals in the past. Crosses are a pain in the $%* to defend. Don’t you agree?

#9 – Use the Chip

There are 3 different shots in FIFA: normal, finesse, and chip. The chip works wonders on a charging keeper. Learn all 3 shots and use them when necessary. Result: You score more goals.

#10 – Attack Aggressively RIGHT AFTER You Give Up a Goal

I’ll admit it: my weakest point IS right after I score a goal. Maybe it’s a false comfort zone. Maybe I’m just lazy. I can’t tell you how many times my defense becomes a joke immediately after I score a goal. It happens to LOTS of FIFA gamers. Instead of getting upset after allowing a goal, you should attack twice as hard because it’s much easier to score when your opponent is still screaming GOOOOL!!!!!

Definitely. These tips will work well in FIFA 2010…assuming the basic gameplay is fairly the same. I’m going to play first, then I’ll update the title if need be.
